Do these laws apply to both city and interstate roads? I stay in the Classic Car 1986 Vintage Birthday T-Shirt But I will love this middle/right lanes on the interstate. If I’m in a town and I know I need to turn left, I usually get in the left lane as soon as possible to avoid getting blocked out closer to the turn. Most people use the left lane to drive fast, not pass. That may not be “as intended” but it’s certainly been “how it’s used” in the 20 years I’ve been driving. If I’m going 10-15 over the speed limit in the left lane, and the right lane is congested – Yes, sometimes I will opt to stay put even if the guy behind me decides he wants to go 20-25 over the speed limit. IMO that’s “You’ve made a choice to go far faster than others, and faster than necessary – so it’s not my responsibility to adjust to you,” In my state there is no passing lane, there’s too many people and the roads are too crowded. And in general, if you’re constantly passing people, you’re wrong and you need to slow down. If you’re constantly being passed, you’re wrong and you need to speed up. Be consistent, considerate, and predictable.

My favorite thing to do when people hangout in the Classic Car 1986 Vintage Birthday T-Shirt But I will love this passing lane is to get in front of them, let off the gas forcing them to slow down, which then forces them to move to the right. Then I speed up giving them the finger. Fuck off. I do honestly believe most of the problem comes from drivers education when first learning to drive. I routinely hear people refer to the left most lane as the “fast lane”. Ask people you know, I bet they call it the same. Ask any boomer what that lane is called… “it’s the fast lane”. If you’re going fast, that left lane is for you. If traffic is going 80 in a 55 and you’re doing 57, you’re technically speeding, so you can stay in the fast lane. If they are going fast by their standards, no problem. If my theory is correct, training people to refer to the left most lane as the passing lane would help. The mentality will hopefully change to am I passing someone to my right? If not, move over for the next maniac.
